@VolumeLowHigh i think Delta Force is the US counter terrorist SF so its basically all black kit ops. Although all SF do jobs that aren’t specifically theirs i think its Delta Force that do all the hostage rescue type ops and then your Green Berets or First Recon have more of a combat role. i think …dunno though

@Crizzle789 And what were the Green Berets inspired from? SAS was the first special operations unit ever. Technically the Navy Seals are inspired by SAS since green berets also were inspired from SAS.
The training for SAS is longer and more demanding than Navy Seals. Also take a look at the numbers, Navy Seals seems more like a special combat squad than a special operations squad. SAS ARE SPECIALIZED in more areas as Navy Seals are just specialized in airdrops and navy operations.
SAS are specialized in more areas? Completely stupid comment, both units are specialized in the areas they need to be to complete their missions. Higher succes rate? oh wait is there a website somewhere that has “facts” such as SAS- 98% success rate, SEALS-95%? Please explain where you get those “facts”. More missions? So todays SAS soldiers have been fighting all the way back to WWII? Because if they havn’t then you really can’t say they have any more experience than the modern SEALS.
@anttonoo I’m going to educate you a bit because you clearly don’t know what you are talking about. The SEALs were not inspired by the SAS, they were inspired by the Green Berets who they were largely modeled off of after JFK decided the US needed another unconventional unit.
@anttonoo SAS isn’t better just because it inspired the creation of the Navy Seals, but I have to agree with what you said. The SAS is better than the Navy Seals. However, the SAS is NOT THE BEST special force in the world. I’ve been hanging around with too many NAVY seals nuthuggers, so I guess the way i see the seals have been altered. My dad told me that the top special force countries above the US are the Germans, British, and the Israelites. Didn’t take that too seriously.
@CHRISTIANSOLDIER101 SAS is the best special force in the world. Navy seal specialises in Navy warfare which the SBS (british) does. Though if you compare SAS and Navy seal SAS will win cause SAS is specialized in more areas, existed longer, higher success rate and more missions, and the fact that navy seal is based off the British SAS.
@anttonoo Navy Seal is the best special force in the US, and the SAS is the best special force in GB, thus they are comparable.

21ROYIK21, I ahve read the book, I was talking about the initial casualties, not the rescue attempt with the SOAR and SEALs (Shane Patton, Erik Kristensen), along with the others who were killed in the crash of the helicopter due to a RPG round going up the open ramp, killing everybody inside. It was the greatest special forces tragedy in US history.

Remember, most of the SAS come from the Royal Marines so are more than likely apt in maritime ops.

Yes, the SAS maintains a unit that is trained in maritime spec ops and combat diving, but the SBS is the UK’s primary maritime special ops unit.
